About Kathy
Kathy s love of all things yoga began over 25 years ago. Kathy began teaching in 2005 and has been a long term student of Iyengar Yoga (Margaret River Yoga School) and is a registered member of Yoga Australia. Over the years Kathy has attended many workshops and trainings with senior teachers including John Leebold, Simon Marocco, Alan Goode, Pixie Lillas, Donna Farhi and also the Iyengar family at the Iyengar Institute in Pune, India. This has given Kathy a strong grounding in the Iyengar method. Kathy completed teacher training with John Ogilivie at The Byron Yoga Centre and is also a practicing remedial massage therapist, member of AAMT and co-owned beautiful Hanu Day Spa in Margaret River for almost 14 years.
Kathy’s yoga classes incorporate breath awareness to encourage presence and movement of prana/energy, often a vinyasa sequence to warm up and core stabilisation. Students are encouraged to do what best serves them on any given day. “My students teach me so much and I am very humbled to have the privilege of guiding them.” Props are often used and creative sequences with a specific focus or theme ensures classes are safe yet challenging. Options and variations are offered to cater for all levels and abilities.

Restorative Yoga*
Gentle beginners
Suitable for those new or returning to yoga or who like a more gentle, simple practice. Usually includes seated, floor and standing postures, concluded with guided Savasana (relaxation)
Yin yoga
Deep stretching, working on the deeper layers of connective tissue. Finding your ‘edge’ with long holds, meditative with strong focus on breath and presence.
Align & Flow
A more dynamic, Iyengar inspired class linking movement, and posture with the breath. Paying close attention to detail/alignment. Working toward a key or peak asana (pose). May include standing poses and inversions. Always different, always fun!
Restorative Yoga
Now every Sunday 4pm!
A deeply relaxing and nourishing practice. The body is supported with the use of props (bolsters, blankets, blocks, cushions) This practice allows us to drop into the parasympathetic nervous system, one of three divisions of the autonomic nervous system. Sometimes called the rest and digest system, the parasympathetic system conserves energy as it slows the heart rate, increases intestinal and gland activity, and relaxes sphincter muscles in the gastrointestinal tract. Restorative yoga is especially ideal for, but not limited to, recovery after illness or injury, Adrenal fatigue/burnout, women on their moon cycle. May include pranayama, (breathwork) and guided yoga nidra (yogic sleep).
